The federal government is set to introduce progressive changes in the expected Hajj Policy 2024, with a focus on enhancing the pilgrimage experience for participants, as reported by ARY News citing government sources.
To accommodate pilgrims, a shorter Hajj package spanning 20 to 25 days will be introduced, complemented by an additional allowance, aiming to make the journey more accessible for all pilgrims.
For overseas Pakistanis, the sponsorship Hajj scheme will continue, demonstrating the government’s commitment to facilitating the pilgrimage for its citizens residing abroad.
In a move to alleviate the financial burden on pilgrims, sources indicate that those opting to pay their Hajj expenses in dollars will be exempt from the lottery system. Additionally, pilgrims will have the option to choose a residence in Medina for a period ranging from 4 to 8 days.
To streamline processes and enhance luggage security, all pilgrims will receive a bag with the Pakistani flag, a QR code, and pertinent information. A mobile app for online registration of Hajj applications will also be launched to facilitate the application process.
The economy package, catering to a broader spectrum of pilgrims, will cover a 40-day duration, as it has in the past. Sources suggest that the official Hajj scheme will accommodate more than 90,000 pilgrims. These changes aim to make the pilgrimage more accessible, convenient, and secure for all participants in line with the evolving needs and expectations of the pilgrims.
