Pakistan’s future linked with Karachi, says PM Imran Khan

Prime Minister Imran Khan has formed a committee to make short, medium and long term plans to resolve the issues faced by the citizens of Karachi.

The meeting was called to review the Clean Up drive and other projects in Karachi. In attendance were federal ministers Barrister Farogh Naseem, Makhdoom Khusru Bakhtiar, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Syed Ali Haider Zaidi, Special Assistant Dr Zafar Mirza, Aftab Hussain Siddiqui MNA, Firdous Shamim Naqvi and Haleem Adil Siddiqui, members of Sindh Assembly, director general FWO Major General Inam Haider Malik and other senior officials.

The Prime Minister said that the residents of Karachi were suffering due to mismanagement and the federal government would play every role in dealing with with these problems. He acknowledged the importance of Karachi, claiming that Pakistan’s future is linked to that of the port city’s.

He asked the committee to submit proposals at the earliest.

The forum also discussed the issues of unclean drinking water, provision of mass transit systems and sewerage facilities in Karachi.

Director General Frontier Works Organization Major General Inaam Haider Malik briefed the meeting on the ongoing cleanliness drive in the city.
