The city administration has imposed Section 144 to curb illegal cattle markets in Karachi, banning roadside animal trade for one month.
According to an official notification, the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals will only be allowed in cattle markets permitted by the city’s district administration.
The Commissioner Karachi stated that setting up animal markets outside designated sites is strictly prohibited, and action will be taken against violators under Section 144.
A total of 14 cattle markets have been authorized across seven districts, where arrangements for parking, sanitation, and security must be completed by market organizers.
He directed relevant departments to ensure that no animals are sold along roads or in residential areas to avoid traffic disruption, garbage issues, and public inconvenience.
The commissioner also warned that any negligence in the management of these markets will lead to strict administrative action against the responsible parties.
