Muharram congregation SOPs finalized

In light of the coming month of Muharram, a meeting was held to discuss safety rules and regulations to be observed to prevent spread of Coronavirus.

The meeting was held by the ministry of religious affairs which has finalised the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that are to be observed by all attending processions and Majalis during Muharram.

At the meeting held on Monday, it was decided that the SOPs will require speakers to mention the plight of Muslims in India-occupied Kashmir. Participants will have to observe social distancing, including marking of seating space and all attendants will have to wear masks.

In attendance were Religious Affairs Minister Pir Noorul Haq Qadri, clerics and religious scholars from different sects of Islam.

At the meeting, the minister ordered that all differences in religious beliefs between the various school of thought in Islam should be discussed at an appropriate forum and not in public. All clerics and scholars were asked to conduct themselves respectfully and be mindful of the sentiments of other sects.

“Public forums are not a right platform to settle political scores or differences, especially in the holy month of Muharram,” Pir Noorul Haq Qadri said.
