Karachi Electronics Distributors Association has announced that those wishing to resell mobile phones at mobile markets will have to hold a CNIC with a Karachi address and submit a photocopy of their card when selling a mobile phone at any of Karachi’s mobile markets.
The decision has been taken in light of the sudden uptick in mobile snatching in the city. KEDA leaders Rizwan Imran and Hamza Memon have both said that no mobile phones can be resold at any of Karachi’s electronic markets without the submission of a photocopy of the seller’s NIC card.
They also said that the card must have a Karachi permanent address mentioned on it.
The leaders claimed that as many as a million stolen mobile phones have been handed over to the authorities in the past 3 years by shop owners.
The leaders further said that law enforcement agencies should start implementing stricter laws for citizens’ safety and KEDA will support any such measures fully.
