KE identifies electricity theft of 4 crore units, collects over Rs. 4 Crore from offenders

KE has successfully identified and curbed electricity theft, revealing approximately 4 crore units stolen in the city. The electricity company’s spokesperson disclosed that in September alone, they identified 24,000 incidents of electricity theft, resulting in the collection of Rs. 4 crore 15 lakh from the offenders.

Since the beginning of 2023, KElectric has been actively combating electricity theft, removing over 14,000 illegal connections through an average of 60 operations daily across Karachi. This crackdown aims to address the issue of power theft, promote energy conservation, and enhance revenue collection for the electricity company.

As part of the anti-theft efforts, 759 FIRs (First Information Reports) have been registered in various police stations. The concerted actions against electricity theft demonstrate the utility’s commitment to ensuring fair usage, preventing revenue losses, and maintaining a reliable power supply for the citizens of Karachi.
