The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) on Wednesday released yet another report on street crimes committed in Karachi in the first nine months of 2021.
CPLC says that at least 369 deaths of people resisting street crime attempts were reported in the city while countless others sustained wounds.
At least 3,350 motorcycles were snatched this year while a whopping 35287 were stolen in the same 9-month period and out of these only 2,191 were recovered. 1,482 other vehicles were also snatched and only 366 of these were recovered.
At least 18,781 cellphones were snatched during this period and only 1,370 recovered.
The strangest bit of the report was the indication that even police officials and other notable people were also robbed in Karachi. This goes to show the sorry state of the city’s law enforcement.
