All City Tajir Ittehad (ACTI) President Sharjeel Gopalani and other traders’ representatives have announced to open markets from the first of Ramdan regardless of the imposed lockdown by the government.
On Wednesday, the traders body held a meeting to discuss the plan forward as the government failed to issue any Standard sets of Procedures under which markets were to be reopened. Earlier, the traders had decided to start operation from the 18th of April but the government had urged them to wait for 48hours within which SOPs for safe operation could be finalized.
The traders were upset at this delay and criticized the Sindh Government for prolonging the process by unnecessarily involving the Federal Government.
Sindh Tajir Ittehad (STI) leader Jameel Paracha stated that they will no longer meet any minister or government official as it is just a move to prolong the lockdown. The traders claimed that the government is insensitive to the troubles of the traders who are suffering massive losses and many laborers have lost their jobs.
Earlier, All City Tajir Ittehad (ACTI) president was arrested along with others by police because of defying lockdown restrictions.
