Khurrum Sher Zaman, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Sindh Assembly, proposed creating a separate police force for Karachi that would follow the Metropolitan policing model.
Mr. Sher Zaman bemoaned the Karachi police force’s inability to effectively combat the recent spike in crimes, particularly street crimes, and argued that the city needs a new force or policing model that would be independent of the Sindh Police.
The PTI Parliamentary Leader supports a Karachi Police Force that would report directly to the Karachi Mayor and be governed by an independent police commission. Additionally, Karachi residents would be chosen for the police force based on merit.
