In a bid to streamline the process of hide collection during Eid ul-Adha, the Sindh Interior Department has rolled out a series of stringent regulations in Karachi, aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in the distribution of sacrificial animal skins.
The new regulations, announced by the department, mandate that no individual or organization can engage in the collection of hides without prior approval from the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner. This move is intended to prevent unauthorized parties from exploiting the tradition of hide collection for personal gain.
Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners have been tasked with overseeing the process and ensuring that only registered entities, such as charitable organizations or institutions, are permitted to collect hides. This measure is expected to curb the involvement of unscrupulous actors in the hide collection process.
Furthermore, the department has imposed restrictions on the establishment of collection camps and the display of banners for hide collection purposes. Additionally, the use of party flags or loudspeakers on vehicles to announce hide collection activities has been prohibited to maintain order and prevent public nuisance.
Individuals and organizations engaged in hide collection are required to carry permission letters issued by the Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner at all times. Failure to comply with these regulations will result in strict penalties and enforcement action by authorities.
Moreover, the Interior Department has announced a temporary suspension of the orders allowing the carrying of arms from the 10th to the 12th of Zil-Hajj. This measure is aimed at enhancing public safety and preventing any untoward incidents during the Eid festivities.
The implementation of these regulations underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring fair and transparent practices in the distribution of sacrificial animal hides, ultimately benefiting deserving communities and charitable causes across Karachi.
