DRAP’s summary to increase medicine prices rejected

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan’s (DRAP) proposal to raise drug prices was rejected by the health minister on Tuesday.

The DRAP sent a summary, asking for an increase in the cost of more than 40 medications, according to the health ministry spokesperson.

Abdul Qadir Patel, the health minister, rejected the Summary. The government is devoted to helping the general populace.

The price of paracetamol, which is used to treat fever, had previously been approved for increase by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), who set the price at Rs2.67 per pill.

The paracetamol price was fixed at Rs2.67 a tablet by DRAP, according to the chairman of the Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Association (PPMA). Paracetamol is a medication used to treat fever, aches, and headaches.

The authorities reaffirmed that the federal cabinet will get a summary from DRAP outlining a price increase for paracetamol. The pharmaceutical firms had asked DRAP to set the cost of paracetamol per tablet at Rs3.5.
