Karachi’s traffic police said on Tuesday that they have accumulated more than Rs 2 million over the course of three days on running a campaign against underaged driving.
A colossal Rs 2.6m have been raked in after a crackdown against underaged drivers was started in the city.
According to Traffic Police officials, challans have been issued in the city during the past three days. People subjected to these challans not only included underage drivers but also their parents and those who provided the children their vehicles. The crackdown has been started on the orders of the apex court.
Officials said that 3,131 underage drivers were issued challans with a fine of Rs 1.56 million imposed on them and 2914 vehicles were confiscated.
“1076 challans were also issued to parents who allowed underage drivers besides also being imposed a fine of Rs1.07 million,” a traffic police official was quoted by ARY News as saying.
