Cold weather grips Karachi as Quetta’s chill extends: Met dept

The chilly weather that has enveloped Quetta is now making its presence felt in Karachi, with the meteorological department predicting a further drop in temperatures for the city. The recent spell of rain and snowfall in Balochistan has intensified the cold, leading to a decrease in minimum temperatures.

Following the rainfall in Quetta, the cold has become more pronounced, resulting in record-low temperatures. The regions of Wadi Ziarat, Chaman, and Toba Achakzai have witnessed a picturesque transformation as snow blankets roads, creating a serene white landscape that adds to the natural beauty of these areas.

In Karachi, the impact of Quetta’s cold weather is evident, with today marking the lowest temperature recorded in the City of Quaid at twelve degrees Celsius. The meteorological department anticipates a further decline in the mercury, prompting residents to brace for cooler conditions in the coming days.

The Meteorological Department highlights that the western wind system will continue to influence Balochistan, creating favorable conditions for rain in areas such as Chaman Ziarat, Qila Saifullah, Qila Abdullah, Pashin, Zhob, Barkhan, Nushki, and Kalat. Additionally, snowfall is expected on the mountains in these regions.

Beyond Balochistan, the Potohar region, including Murree and Galiat, as well as Upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan, are anticipated to experience light rain and snowfall. This meteorological activity further underscores the widespread impact of the cold weather, urging residents across these regions to take necessary precautions to navigate the changing climatic conditions.

As the winter weather persists, the meteorological forecasts serve as crucial guidance for residents, businesses, and local authorities to adapt to the evolving conditions and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
