Street crime has reached its peak in Karachi, day or night, the criminals are targeting citizens with no fear.
During the first six months of this year, citizens lost more than 27 thousand motorcycles, 1173 vehicles and 14 thousand mobile phones, the CPLC’s latest report claimed.
The Sindh government and law enforcement agencies including the police and Rangers seem helpless in front of the street criminals in Karachi.
During six months, robbers snatched 14 thousand 490 mobile phones from citizens, in six months of last year this number was 12 thousand 393. This year, 27 thousand 319 motorcycles were stolen and stolen from citizens, in six months of 2021, 25 thousand 467 motorcycles were stolen.
Looters also deprived citizens of 1173 vehicles, compared to 919 in the last half-year. More than 150 people were killed this month in robbery and other incidents in the city. Citizens of Karachi have been raising their voices on street crime for years, but the rulers of Sindh have not taken any serious steps.
Despite the emergence of numerous CCTV footage, the police seem to be unable to punish the accused effectively, due to the lack of effective legislation, the arrested accused are also released.
