The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a major weather advisory predicting an extended spell of monsoon rains across large parts of the country from July 29 to August 5, warning of heavy falls, urban flooding, flash floods, and landslides in several regions as monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal penetrate upper and central parts of the country.
Rain Expected in Karachi from July 31
Karachi is expected to receive rain and thundershowers with isolated moderate to heavy falls as part of the broader Sindh rainfall spell.

According to the advisory issued on July 28, rain activity across Karachi and the wider Sindh region is forecast to begin from the evening and night of July 31 and continue through to August 2, with occasional gaps in activity.

Other Sindh districts expected to receive rain during the same period include Tharparkar, Umer Kot, Mirpur Khas, Badin, Sanghar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Mityari, Jamshoro, Thatta, Shaheed Benazirabad, Ghotki, Kashmore, Jacobabad, Shikarpur, Sukkur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Larkana, Khairpur, and Nausheroferoze.
Urban Flooding Risk in Sindh
The PMD has warned that heavy rains may cause urban flooding in low-lying areas across several Sindh cities between July 31 to August 2, including Nawabshah, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sanghar, Khairpur, Mithi, Mirpur Khas, Umer Kot, Tando Muhammad Khan, and Tando Allahyar.
Residents in low-lying areas are advised to take necessary precautions ahead of the expected rainfall.
Punjab and Islamabad on High Alerts
Some of the most intense rainfall is expected across Punjab and Islamabad from July 29 to August 4, with rain, wind, and thundershowers, including scattered heavy to very heavy falls, forecast for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and several other cities.

Urban flooding is expected in low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad from July 30 to August 4.
Southern Punjab districts including Bahawalpur, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Rahim Yar Khan are expected to receive rain from July 31 to August 3 with occasional gaps.
Heavy Rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to face one of the most prolonged spells of the entire forecast period, with rain, wind, and thundershowers including scattered heavy to very heavy falls forecast from July 29 to August 5 across Dir, Chitral, Swat, Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohat, D.I. Khan, Waziristan, and several other districts.
Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra, Haripur, and Abbottabad from July 30 to August 5.
Gilgit-Baltistan Braces for Extended Rainfall
Gilgit-Baltistan is expected to face the longest spell in the forecast, with rain, wind, and thunderstorms including moderate to heavy falls predicted in Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar from the evening and night of July 28 through to August 6 with occasional gaps.
Kashmir and Balochistan Also Affected
Kashmir is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rain and thundershowers from the night of July 28 to August 5 across Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Kotli, Mirpur, and surrounding areas.

Flash floods in local streams and nullahs are possible across Kashmir, Murree, Galliyat, and northeastern Punjab during the forecast period.
Eastern and southern Balochistan districts including Zhob, Sibbi, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbella, Turbat, Gwadar, Pasni, and Ormara are expected to receive rain with isolated heavy falls from the evening of July 31 to August 3 with occasional gaps.
Possible Impacts and Public Advisory
The PMD has warned that heavy rains, windstorms, and lightning may damage weak structures including solar panels, electric poles, and billboards during the forecast period. Flash floods may be generated in local streams and nullahs of Kashmir, northeastern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan.
Tourists and travelers across all affected regions have been advised to exercise caution and plan accordingly during the forecast period.
Farmers have been urged to manage their crop activities and care for their livestock in view of the expected weather conditions.
