According to the petition, the affected citizen has requested legal action against the project director and the contractor involved in the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Red Line scheme, claiming that inadequate safety arrangements during construction led to the incident.

The petitioner has asked the court to direct the Sindh government and the BRT Red Line administration to pay damages covering medical expenses, permanent disability, loss of earnings, and other losses arising from the accident.

Counsel for the petitioner argued that barriers installed along University Road did not have proper reflectors, warning signs, or adequate safety indicators, creating hazardous conditions for motorists and pedestrians.

The petition states that the accident occurred after the citizen returned to Pakistan in 2025 following the performance of Hajj.

According to the filing, the collision resulted in the loss of one eye and caused severe facial injuries, leading to long-term physical and financial consequences.

The petitioner contends that the BRT Red Line project administration failed to implement sufficient public safety measures during ongoing construction work, thereby placing commuters at unnecessary risk.

The court has been requested to award Rs178.7 million as compensation for medical treatment, permanent disability, pain and suffering, and other damages allegedly caused by the incident.

The legal action comes as the Sindh government continues to push for faster completion of the Karachi BRT Red Line corridor.

Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah carried out an early-morning inspection of several major infrastructure projects in Karachi, directing officials to expedite work on the Karachi Bus Rapid Transit (KBRT) Red Line corridor, Shahrah-e-Bhutto and Pahalwan Goth Road while maintaining quality and transparency.

He then visited Pahalwan Goth to assess rehabilitation work on the main traffic corridor before inspecting Shahrah-e-Bhutto from the Bheem Pura flyover to Kathore, where he reviewed ongoing construction and issued directions to the project teams.
