Karachi-born academic Dr Mubashir Husain Rehmani has been appointed Editor-in-Chief of Wiley Engineering Reports, an internationally recognised peer-reviewed journal in engineering and computer science.
Currently serving as a lecturer at Munster Technological University (MTU) in Ireland, Dr Rehmani becomes the first academic from the university to lead a global scientific journal in the field of engineering and technology.

The appointment is being viewed as a significant achievement for both Pakistan and MTU, highlighting Dr Rehmani’s international standing in computer science and communications technologies.
As Editor-in-Chief, he will guide the journal’s editorial direction and work closely with researchers and scientists from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Europe, and Asia.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rehmani said it was an honour to serve as Editor-in-Chief of the prestigious publication.

MTU officials praised the achievement, with Dr George O’Mahony stating that the appointment reflects Dr Rehmani’s outstanding academic contributions and further strengthens the university’s global reputation in research and innovation.
Dr Rehmani has earned worldwide recognition for his research work and has been listed among the world’s top one percent highly cited researchers in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2025.

According to university records, he has published more than 130 research papers, authored 10 books, received the Science Foundation Ireland CONNECT Centre’s Education and Public Engagement Award 2022, and served as Area Editor for IEEE journals in communications technologies.
His latest appointment is being celebrated as a proud milestone for Pakistani academics making global contributions in engineering, information technology, and scientific research.
