Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced the launch of a new electric vehicle (EV) bus route in Karachi, starting from March 17, 2026.
The initiative is part of the provincial government’s efforts to expand modern and environmentally friendly public transport in the city.
According to the minister, the electric bus service will operate on a new route from Gulshan-e-Maymar to Tower, providing improved connectivity for residents of northern areas of the city.

He said the route will benefit thousands of commuters daily by offering a comfortable, affordable, and modern travel option.
Sharjeel Memon said residents of Gulshan-e-Maymar, Surjani Town, and nearby localities will gain easier access to the city center, including Tower, through the new service.
The route is expected to improve mobility for people who travel daily for work, education, and other activities.

The senior minister said the Government of Sindh is taking practical steps to provide citizens with high-quality and eco-friendly public transport.
He added that the electric buses are equipped with modern facilities and are designed to reduce environmental pollution while offering a comfortable travel experience.
Sharjeel Memon also emphasized that the provincial government is committed to introducing international-standard transport services in Karachi.

He said more EV bus routes will be introduced in the future to further strengthen the public transport network.
Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, has long faced shortages of reliable public transportation for its growing population.
