The Karachi Traffic Police have been placed on high alert following the current tense situation at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
In a statement, officials said all officers and personnel have been instructed to remain vigilant and fully prepared to respond to any internal disturbances or emergencies.

The measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of citizens and maintaining smooth traffic flow across the city.
According to the orders issued by DIG Traffic Karachi, all officers on duty are required to wear bulletproof jackets, and every police constable must carry a 9mm firearm with full ammunition.
Each duty point and mobile squad group must have at least one submachine gun (SMG) available, and no officer will be assigned duty alone or in unsafe or poorly lit areas.

Officers are also instructed to maintain constant communication with their teams and keep wireless devices active at all times to ensure coordinated responses in case of any emergency.
The control room has been kept fully operational and alert, with zonal DSPs, section officers, and supervisory officers tasked with monitoring personnel and weapons readiness in the field.
DIG Traffic Karachi emphasized that the protection of citizens’ lives and property, along with uninterrupted traffic operations, remains the top priority.
The public has been urged to remain calm, cooperate with authorities, and prioritize safety while the city remains on high alert.
