The Anti-Violent Crime Cell chief Zubair Sheikh has claimed that the Sindh Police has traced Dua Zehra to Lahore after she sent her Nikahnaama to the police asking them not to look for her.
According to the document, she married 21-year-old Zaheer Ahmed – a resident of Lahore’s Shershah Colony. On the Nikahnama, Dua’s age is mentioned as 18 years.
Karachi Police forwarded the document to Lahore Police who conducted a raid at the address mentioned on Nikahnaam. Police, however, could not find Dua and Zaheer.
One of Zaheer’s relative was arrested during the raid. Police have also arrested Nikahkhwan and two witnesses who had signed the Nikahnama.
Dua’s father said that the age and other details mentioned on Nikahnama is wrong.
Dua went missing ten days ago. Zehra and her family live in Shah Faisal Colony’s Golden Town area. T
he incident came to light after Zehra’s father Syed Mehdi Ali Kazmi made a video with charity organisation JDC’s Chief Zafar Abbas in which they requested to people to look for their daughter.
The video went viral on the internet. Soon, Zehra’s photo with her details spread across the social media asking people for help in locating her.
Several celebrities have raised their voices and expressed hope for the safe return of the teenage girl.
Nimra Kazmi, another Karachi teenager who went missing from Saudabad area, has been traced in Punjab’s Dera Ghazi Khan.
Nimra has reportedly married Najeeb Shahrukh.
In a video statement, Nimra said that she came to DG Khan on April 17 and married Muhammad Najeeb Shahrukh on April 18. She said no one has kidnapped her and asked the media to remove all her videos and photos.
She has also submitted an application in Additional Session Judge Muhammad Yasir Arfat requesting the court to stop police from harassing her.
It should be mentioned here that in Sindh legal age for marriage for both man and woman is set at 18, while under Punjab Marriage Restraint Act, the age for the girls is set at 16 and for boys it’s 18.
Parents of both Dua and Nimra have claimed that their daughters are 14-year-old, well below the legal age for marriage.
