Bangladesh Cricket Board chairman Aminul Islam has arrived in Pakistan to take part in an emergency International Cricket Council meeting, according to Geo Super.

The ICC is expected to hold the meeting via video link later today to discuss the uncertainty surrounding the high-profile ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 match between Pakistan and India.

The fixture has been thrown into doubt after Pakistan’s federal government barred the national team from playing against India.

Reports noted that several ICC member boards, including Bangladesh and Pakistan, will attend the emergency meeting.

During his short visit, Islam is also expected to meet Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi before returning to Bangladesh later in the evening.

The development comes days after reports in Indian media claimed that the ICC had started exploring informal channels to persuade Pakistan to reconsider its decision regarding the much-anticipated clash.

According to those reports, ICC deputy chairman Imran Khawaja has been given the responsibility of initiating dialogue with the PCB.

Khawaja, who represents the Singapore Cricket Association, has reportedly been asked to act as a mediator and help ease tensions surrounding the fixture by engaging directly with Pakistani officials.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has publicly supported the federal government’s decision to bar the team from playing against India.

While addressing the federal cabinet, he stressed that politics should be kept out of sports and termed the decision “appropriate”.

“We have taken a clear stand regarding the T20 World Cup that we will not play the match against India,” the Prime Minister said.
