The Sindh government has announced two consecutive holidays for schools and educational institutions across the province in February 2026.

The decision has been taken on the occasions of Shab-e-Barat and Kashmir Solidarity Day, according to official notifications issued by the Sindh School Education Department.

According to the details, all government and private schools in Sindh will remain closed on February 4, 2026, on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat, which falls on 15 Shaban 1447 Hijri.

The education department confirmed that the holiday will apply to both public and private educational institutions, including schools operating under different boards.

The Sindh government has also declared February 5, 2026, as a public holiday across the province in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day.

On this day, all public and private institutions will remain closed, except those providing essential services such as hospitals, emergency services, and utilities.

Sindh issues fresh directive on school timings

According to the notification, Kashmir Solidarity Day will be observed to express political and moral support for the people of Kashmir in their struggle for self-determination.

Earlier to this, Sindh School Education Department has extended revised school timings across the province due to persistent cold weather.

According to an official notification, all public and private schools will now open at 9:00 am until February 4, with the policy applicable uniformly across Sindh.

Officials said the decision was taken after reviewing weather conditions that have continued to affect several districts of the province.

They explained that early morning cold poses health risks to children, particularly younger students, and can increase the chances of seasonal illnesses.
