The weather in Karachi has turned cold and dry due to persistent cold winds, while intermittent strong gusts are expected to continue throughout the day.
The latest update from the Meteorological Department indicates that the current cold wave will persist until the end of January, with no rainfall expected in the city for now.
According to weather officials, Karachi’s humidity level is currently around 48 percent, while winds are blowing from the northeast at a speed of nearly 20 kilometres per hour.

The combination of dry air and cold winds has intensified the chill across the city, affecting daily routines and increasing the demand for warm clothing and heating.
Meteorologists say that although Karachi is unlikely to receive rain today, weather conditions across the region are changing rapidly.
A strong westerly wind system is expected to enter the region later today, which could trigger a fresh spell of rain and snowfall in several parts of Balochistan and nearby areas.

In Balochistan, cold conditions have already intensified due to icy winds. Chaman and surrounding areas are experiencing severe cold, with temperatures dropping below freezing point. The temperature in Chaman has been recorded at minus 2 degrees Celsius, while Toba Achakzai recorded minus 8 degrees, Khawaja Imran minus 7 degrees, and Kozhak Top minus 6 degrees Celsius. These extremely low temperatures have significantly increased the severity of winter in the region.
According to the Meteorological Department, the incoming westerly weather system is likely to bring snowfall in high-altitude areas including Ziarat, Chaman, Toba Achakzai, Kozhak Top, and Khawaja Imran.

At the same time, thunderstorms are expected in several districts such as Qila Abdullah, Jangal Pir Alizai, Sheila Bagh, and Mezai Adda.
In Karachi, while the cold wave continues, authorities and weather officials are closely monitoring developments related to the incoming weather system.
