Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has questioned Pakistan’s wicketkeeping options for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, stressing that wicketkeeping is a crucial role in any team, particularly in the shortest format of the game.
He pointed out that Mohammad Rizwan has been performing wicketkeeping duties for Multan Sultans, while Usman Khan has featured mainly as a batsman.

“Mohammad Rizwan has been keeping wickets for Multan Sultans, while Usman Khan has played primarily as a batsman,” Rashid Latif said on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
Latif also highlighted that when Khawaja Nafay was part of Quetta Gladiators, the wicketkeeping responsibilities were handled by Kusal Mendis and Dinesh Chandimal.
“When Khawaja Nafay was with Quetta, Kusal Mendis and Dinesh Chandimal served as the wicketkeepers,” he added.
The former captain further noted that Sahibzada Farhan kept wickets for Islamabad United in just one Pakistan Super League match, with Andries Gous and Azam Khan being the regular wicketkeepers for the franchise.

“Sahibzada Farhan kept wickets for Islamabad United in just one match of the PSL, while Andries Gous and Azam Khan were the main wicketkeepers,” he further added.
He explained that Pakistan is considering three wicketkeepers for the T20 World Cup who are not the regular keepers for their respective franchise teams, raising concerns over selection strategy and preparation ahead of the tournament.
“We now have three wicketkeepers in front of us who are not the regular keepers for their franchise teams, But they are considering them for the Pakistan squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup,” he concluded.
For the unversed, Mohammad Rizwan has not played a T20I match for Pakistan since 2024, while Mohammad Haris has been sidelined since the Asia Cup 2025.
