Karachi is set for a major infrastructure upgrade as the city prepares to begin construction of the Azeempura Flyover, a fully signal-free route from Shahra-e-Bhutto to the airport.
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) confirmed that the new flyover aims to reduce travel time significantly, marking an important milestone in ongoing urban development efforts and strengthening public convenience through improved traffic flow across the eastern corridor.

According to officials, the tender for this major infrastructure works was issued on the special instructions of Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab.
The KMC Engineering Department stated that the project includes the construction of a flyover at Azeempura Intersection, the rehabilitation and widening of adjoining roads, and comprehensive upgrades to roundabouts, drainage systems, and electrification from Malir River Bridge to Shama Shopping Centre.
The estimated cost of the project stands at Rs 1.477 billion, and contractors have been invited to participate through the Single Stage – Two Envelope Procedure under the E-Bid system as per SPPRA guidelines.

Eligible bidders must hold a valid PEC license in Category C-1 or higher with specialization codes CE01, CE02, CE09, CE10, and EE06, ensuring compliance with technical standards required for large-scale urban infrastructure development.
Applicants must submit a five percent bid security, a non-refundable tender fee of Rs 5,000, and an integrity pact worth Rs 200, alongside tax registrations, NTN certificates, and a detailed bar-chart construction schedule.

Bidders are required to upload bid security documents using the EPADS digital system and also provide physical copies to the Chairman Procurement Committee at Dawood Engineering University in Muslimabad Karachi before the deadline.
The KMC has clarified that participating firms must not be blacklisted or involved in legal disputes with government or semi-government bodies within the past five years to ensure transparent competition.
