The Higher Education Commission (HEC) made a strong start at the National Games 2025, claiming a mix of gold, silver, and bronze medals on the opening day of competitions held at the National Coaching Center and other sports venues.
HEC fencing player Abdul Musawir led the charge, winning the gold medal in the Apee individual category by defeating Balochistan.
The team also secured a silver medal in the Under-30 Women Pair Poomsae event and a bronze in the Under-20 Poomsae category.

In Judo, Shamas Ahmad earned a silver medal in the Open Weight category.
HEC also clinched a bronze medal in the Women’s 10m Air Pistol event.
Boxing brought more success for HEC, with Arabaz Khan winning his pre-quarterfinal fight in the -55 kg category against Navy, while another HEC boxer triumphed in the -50 kg pre-quarterfinal against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The HEC women’s badminton team also got off to a winning start by defeating Balochistan in their first pre-quarterfinal match.
HEC Chairman Nadeem Mehboob, Executive Director Dr. Zia ul Haq, and In-charge Sports Rizwan Shaukat congratulated the athletes, team managers, and coaches on their achievements.
HEC is participating in the National Games with over 325 athletes and 90 officials, showcasing the organization’s commitment to sports development across multiple disciplines.
