Arshad Nadeem, Talha Talib honoured by Wapda, Punjab govt

Upon their return to Pakistan on Monday, Olympians Arshad Nadeem and Talha Talib were given cash prizes of Rs2.5 million by Wapda. Both players, who had taken part in the Tokyo Olympics, are employees of Wapda.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also gave the players a prize of Rs 1 million each. 

Arshad’s coach Fayyaz-ul-Hasan Bukhari also received a cash prize of Rs500,000.

Both athletes finished in fifth place in the finals of their respective disciplines at Tokyo Games.

Arshad thanked Wapda and Federal IPC Minister Dr Fehmida Mirza, nation and media for their tremendous support before and after the Tokyo Olympics. He also said that he hoped and prayed for a better outcome for himself and the nation in future competitions.

Talha, who attended the function with his father Mohammad Islam Natiq who is also his coach, thanked Wapda for honouring him and recognising his achievement.
