Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, who famously led the national team to ICC Champions Trophy 2017, has been given key responsibilities by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
According to media reports, Sarfaraz will now focus on developing the next generation of Pakistani cricketers as the in-charge of the Pakistan Shaheens and Under-19 cricket team.
In this role, he will manage team tours, including international trips, and will also participate in domestic training camps and series, mentoring young players and helping them refine their skills.

Sarfaraz holds a unique place in Pakistan cricket history as a captain who has won two ICC trophies: the 2006 Under-19 World Cup and the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy.
Both finals were victories against arch-rivals India.

The wicketkeeper-batter also enjoyed an impressive international career.
In 54 Tests, he scored 3,031 runs, including four centuries and 21 fifties.
In 117 ODIs, he amassed 2,315 runs with two centuries and 11 fifties, while in 61 T20Is, he scored 818 runs, including three fifties.
Sarfaraz’s captaincy record is equally remarkable.
He led Pakistan to the 2017 Champions Trophy victory over India.
In the 2019 World Cup, he led the team to victory in five of their nine matches, while one match ended without a result.

In T20 Internationals, he achieved a 78.37% win rate, winning 29 out of 37 games.
For context, the 38-year-old last represented Pakistan in red-ball cricket during a Test against Australia in Perth in 2023.
