Karachi’s new Director-General Sindh Building Control Authority (DG SBCA) has ordered the demolition of 10 illegal building structures daily. This is the official’s first order since assuming office.
According to a notification from the DG SBCA’s office, each day 10 illegal structures are to be raised to the ground. The DG has also said that private contractors may even be hired to complete the task whenever required.
Furthermore, officials tasked to the operation have been told to submit a daily report on the project’s progress.
The press department of SBCA has also been notified to invite the media to cover the operation.
The notification comes at a time when the city is in an uproar over the orders to empty out the houses on both of Gujjar Nullah’s banks.
