The first Supermoon of 2025 will be visible on October 7 in Pakistan, offering sky watchers a bright celestial spectacle as the moon appears larger and more luminous than usual.

A Supermoon occurs when a full moon coincides with its closest approach to Earth. This positioning makes the moon appear up to 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter than average.

On October 7, the moon will come within 224,599 miles of Earth. This makes it the closest Supermoon since November 2024 and a highly anticipated astronomical event worldwide.

Astronomers confirm this October Supermoon is the first of three in 2025. Two more will follow on November 5 and December 5, completing the year’s rare lunar sequence.

The November Supermoon is predicted to be the brightest, with the moon reaching 221,817 miles from Earth. This will mark the year’s most striking lunar display for stargazers.

Typically, three to four Supermoons occur annually, but this year’s sequence is considered especially memorable due to their close proximity and enhanced brightness compared with standard full moon appearances.

Observers note that the visual impact of a Supermoon is most dramatic when it rises near the horizon. Its larger size creates a breathtaking effect across city skylines and landscapes.

Pakistanis can expect mostly clear skies in parts of Sindh and Punjab, enhancing visibility. However, coastal and northern regions may experience cloud cover that could obstruct the lunar view.

Astronomers emphasize that the October Supermoon holds cultural and scientific significance, drawing public attention to celestial events and encouraging greater interest in astronomy across Pakistan and the broader South Asian region.

The next Supermoon will be in November, followed by another in December, making 2025 an especially exciting year for sky watchers worldwide and particularly for those in Pakistan.
