South Africa has announced their squads for the Test, ODI, and T20I series ahead of their tour of Pakistan, where Pakistan will kick off their ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 campaign.
The first Test match will be played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium from 12 to 16 October, marking the venue’s return to hosting five-day cricket after major renovations for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host the second Test from 20 to 24 October.
This series will also mark South Africa’s first Test tour to Pakistan since January 2021, when Pakistan sealed a 2-0 victory.
After the conclusion of the Test matches, both teams will switch formats for three T20 Internationals, scheduled from 28 October to 1 November at Rawalpindi and Lahore.
The series will conclude with three One Day Internationals from 4 to 8 November at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium. Pakistan last played an ODI at this venue in April 2008 against Bangladesh.
This will mark the return of ODI cricket to Faisalabad after 17 years, reviving Iqbal Stadium’s historical significance. The venue has been an important landmark in Pakistan’s cricketing journey.
PCB Chief Operating Officer Sumair Ahmed Syed said that starting against South Africa, the current Test champions, will provide players and fans with high-quality cricket and set the tone for the new cycle.
He added that bringing ODIs back to Faisalabad is a proud moment for the board. According to him, Iqbal Stadium’s return will enhance the country’s cricket calendar and strengthen regional engagement with the sport.
