The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a strict warning regarding the illegal trade of international SIM cards.
Citizens have been informed that purchasing or selling international SIMs is a punishable offense under Pakistani law. The authority has cautioned that anyone involved in such activities may face severe penalties.
PTA stated that criminals often misuse stolen personal information to obtain unauthorized SIMs under citizens’ names. These international SIMs are then used for fraud, illegal activities, and even terrorism.
The authority emphasized that protecting personal data and avoiding such practices is essential for public safety.
To help citizens secure their data, PTA has provided an easy way to check the number of SIMs registered under their name. Users can visit cnic.sims.pk to verify details.

Those without internet access can send their CNIC number via SMS to 668 and immediately receive information. Any SIM not in personal use should be blocked without delay.
PTA further advised that new SIMs should always be purchased through authorized outlets, customer service centers, or official franchises. Completing all legal requirements ensures that SIM ownership remains secure and traceable.
The latest advisory highlights PTA’s continued efforts to curb illegal telecom activities and safeguard citizens’ personal information. Strict monitoring will continue, and offenders may face strong legal action.
