A shocking incident was reported from Karachi’s Defence area where a mother allegedly slit the throat of her two young children.
Police said the accused, identified as Adiba, lived alone in a rented house on Mujahid Street No. 10, as she was divorced from her husband, Ghufran, in 2024, with the court granting custody of the children to the father; however, the children regularly visited their mother.
On the day of the incident, the children – four-year-old Sameeha Ghufran and seven-year-old Zarar Ghufran – were dropped off by their father’s driver Badshah Khan after school.
Police said they were later found dead in the bathroom, with stab wounds to the neck. The murder weapon was recovered from the scene.

SSP South Manzoor Ali told reporters that Adiba was arrested at the scene. She is suspected of suffering from psychological problems.
Meanwhile, further investigation is underway to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the killings.
According to police surgeon Dr. Samia Syed, postmortem reports confirmed that the children’s throats were slit with a sharp instrument, severing the jugular vein.
Samples have been sent for testing to check if they were sedated or drugged before the attack.
