Pakistan introduced digital newborn registration, with the birth registration fee completely waived across Sindh.

According to the spokesperson for the Chief Secretary Sindh, the project is currently active in 36 government and 13 private hospitals across the province, enabling parents to register births directly at hospitals.

Chief Secretary Sindh said the system is being implemented in collaboration with the Health Department, NADRA, and the Local Government Department to streamline the birth registration process and improve record accuracy.

He confirmed that parents will no longer need to visit separate offices or pay any charges for birth registration, making the process both free and convenient.

Officials added that the digital registration initiative aims to increase coverage, ensure every child is documented from birth, and support future planning for health and education services.

The Sindh government plans to expand the program to more hospitals in the coming months, ensuring all newborns are registered immediately after birth.

Authorities believe that this innovation will help strengthen civil records and align Pakistan’s registration process with global best practices for child identity management.
