ChatGPT – a large language model chatbot developed by OpenAI – popularity in Pakistan has reached an all-time high, overtaking social media giants like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly Twitter).
Since its launch in November 2022, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) chatbot is now among the most visited websites in the country.
OpenAI revealed on August 5, 2025, that the tool now has nearly 700 million weekly active users.
Just four months ago, this number stood at 500 million. The 200 million jump reflects how fast AI tools are spreading.

In Pakistan, ChatGPT ranks third among the most-used websites, according to Similarweb’s June 2025 data. Meanwhile, Facebook has dropped to 4th, Instagram to 6th, X to 7th, and TikTok sits at 10th.
These numbers suggest a major shift in digital habits. More people are turning to AI for help with writing, research, and daily tasks. Compared to traditional social media, ChatGPT offers fast, personalized results.
Additionally, the global ranking of OpenAI’s website has risen to 5th position. This shows how AI technology is now a top player in the digital space.
Clearly, interest in artificial intelligence is growing fast. And Pakistan is keeping pace with the trend.
