The Family Registration Certificate (FRC) is issued by NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority). This official document confirms a person’s family composition.
FRC is commonly used in Pakistan for inheritance claims, visa processing, and other formal matters. According to NADRA, FRC is mainly for embassy-related issues and does not serve as a legal document.
Why you need an FRC
Overseas Pakistanis inviting their families abroad must submit an FRC for visa processing. FRC is essential when proving family relationships.
FRC has various types. One of the most common is the “by Marriage” type. It includes details of your spouse and children.
To be eligible for an FRC, all family members must be registered with NADRA and hold valid 13-digit CNIC, CRC, NICOP, or POC numbers. Unregistered members will not appear on the certificate.
How to Apply for FRC in Pakistan
You can apply for your FRC in two ways:
1. By Visiting NADRA Registration Center (NRC)
If you’re applying through marriage and your children are under 18, their physical presence is required. Follow these steps:
- Get a token.
- Children’s photos will be captured.
- Your data will be entered and verified.
- The printed FRC will be issued to you on the spot.
For children aged 18 or older, only your data is needed. Their presence is not required. Steps remains the same.
2. Through Pak-ID Mobile App
You can also apply online via NADRA’s Pak-ID mobile app. Submit the request digitally and receive your FRC via email. This is a convenient option, especially for those living abroad.
