The Provincial Ombudsman Sindh has ordered the immediate removal of K-Electric (KE) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Moonis Alvi after finding him guilty of harassing a female employee at the workplace.

Justice (R) Shahnawaz Tariq, the Provincial Ombudsman for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace, also imposed a fine of Rs2.5 million on Alvi.

The fine must be paid within 30 days, failure to comply will result in freezing of his movable and immovable assets, and his CNIC and passport may also be blocked.

The decision, issued under the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act, stated that the complainant endured harassment and mental distress due to Alvi’s actions.

Moonis Alvi reacted strongly to the ruling, calling it “deeply distressing” and claiming that the findings did not reflect his experience. He said he is consulting legal counsel and intends to appeal the verdict. “I must, in good conscience, reject the findings as inaccurate,” he added.
