The Sindh government has announced a range of activities and competitions to mark this year’s Independence Day, with celebrations officially starting on August 1.
Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, during a press conference with provincial ministers, said prizes will be given to the best-decorated houses, vehicles, and malls.
“This year, we will celebrate the victory of truth alongside independence,” he stated. “We want people to feel the pride of a free nation.”
The theme of the celebrations will highlight the nation’s progress, especially in the economic sector. “In the past year, we’ve made significant strides economically, and we want to showcase this achievement during the festivities,” Shah added.

A major Independence Day concert is planned at the National Stadium on the night of August 13 and 14, featuring fireworks.
Other events will take place across Sindh: Hyderabad on August 8, Sukkur on August 10, and a cultural float parade from Boat Basin on August 13.
Unique activities include a women’s bicycle rally from Karachi to Chowkandi and a traditional donkey cart race from Clifton’s seaview area to Frere Hall on August 10. A boat race is scheduled for August 9.
In sports, a cricket match between Mayor XI and Minister XI will be held on August 8, and Qalandars XI will face Bhittai XI at Moin Khan Academy on August 9. A marathon is also planned for August 10.
The Sindh Sports Department has prepared 114 programs in total for the month-long celebrations.
