The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced major updates to its identity and registration system, introducing changes that will affect how families manage legal and official documentation in Pakistan.
Under the new policy, the old B-Form will no longer be accepted for passport applications. Instead, parents must obtain the updated Child Registration Certificate (CRC) when applying for their children’s passports.
NADRA officials stated that this measure will help ensure that each child has a secure, verified digital identity.
In a landmark decision, NADRA has also granted legal recognition to the Family Registration Certificate (FRC).
Previously used primarily for documentation purposes, the FRC can now be submitted in legal proceedings such as inheritance cases and court matters.
To reflect this new legal status, the FRC format has been revised to better represent various family structures in Pakistan.
The redesigned certificate is intended to be more inclusive and functional across different administrative and legal frameworks.
NADRA stated that these updates are part of a broader strategy to enhance data security, strengthen identity verification, and increase the legal utility of its registration system.
