Pakistan Railways has changed the departure timings of three major passenger trains traveling from Lahore to Karachi.
The decision affects Business Express, Karachi Express, and Shah Hussain Express, with the changes taking effect immediately.
According to the new schedule, the Business Express will now leave Lahore at 6:30 PM, instead of its earlier time of 4:30 PM.
The Karachi Express has also been delayed and will now depart at 8:00 PM rather than 6:00 PM. Meanwhile, the Shah Hussain Express will leave at 10:15 PM, more than an hour later than its previous departure at 9:00 PM.
This development comes shortly after Pakistan Railways increased passenger fares by 2 percent due to a rise in diesel prices. The fare hike affects all classes of travel and is part of efforts to manage growing operational costs.
The railway department has also raised freight charges. The coal transportation rate has increased by 3 percent, while fertilizer cargo now costs 2 percent more to move.
These changes come after a fuel price increase of Rs. 11.37 per liter, which has added significant pressure to Pakistan Railways’ budget.
