Pakistan Shaheens have encountered an early setback on their England tour, as off-spinner Sajid Khan has been ruled out due to a thumb injury.
The 31-year-old sustained a fracture to his right thumb during a training session at Tonbridge School Ground, just hours before their opening one-day match against the Professional County Club Select XI at Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham.
Following a medical assessment, it has been confirmed that Sajid will return to Pakistan on the earliest available flight.
Sajid Khan is expected to undergo further treatment and rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.
The team management has decided not to call up a replacement for the remainder of the tour, which adds to the challenges faced by the squad.
This decision reflects the team’s confidence in the remaining players to step up in Sajid’s absence.
The Pakistan Shaheens are scheduled to play three 50-over matches against the Professional County Club Select XI from July 22 to 27.
The current squad, led by captain Saud Shakeel, includes notable players such as Haider Ali, Musa Khan, and wicketkeeper Rohail Nazir.
