Quetta International Airport’s new runway has received the Fédération Internationale des Ingénieurs – Conseils (FIDIC) Asia-Pacific Engineering Excellence Award at a ceremony in Islamabad.
Built at a cost of PKR 5 billion, the runway was completed without shutting down airport operations.
Officials say it now stands among the longest and strongest rigid-runways in the region.
The award honors Pakistan Airport Authority and consultants for top-tier planning, engineering, and safety.
PIA Flight PK-3250 from Islamabad was the first to land on the new runway on 31st May 2023.
