The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast mostly cloudy weather with chances of rain and thunderstorms for Karachi from Sunday, July 20, while drizzle is expected on Monday, July 21.
According to the Met Office, strong monsoon currents are currently penetrating most parts of Sindh, likely to intensify further in the coming days.
Under this influence, various districts including Karachi, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Shaheed Benazirabad are expected to experience intermittent thunderstorms and rainfall. While Karachi may witness light to moderate rain, other areas could face moderate to isolated heavy falls.
The PMD has warned that heavy rainfall may cause urban flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas, particularly in the upper parts of the province. Strong winds and lightning could also pose risks to vulnerable infrastructure such as houses, billboards, electric poles, solar panels, and parked vehicles.
Residents are advised to exercise caution during peak rainfall hours and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities. Motorists should stay alert, and the public is urged to follow updates from relevant authorities.
Farmers have also been advised to plan agricultural activities keeping in view the rainy conditions.
Emergency services and local authorities have been notified and placed on high alert to respond promptly to any weather-related emergencies.
