Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi announced that all railway guest houses will be outsourced to private firms and free Wi-Fi will be installed at 40 railway stations across the country.

He made these remarks during a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Railways, held at Parliament House and chaired by Rai Hassan Nawaz.

During the session, the committee also discussed clean drinking water facilities at railway stations. MNA Waseem Hussain raised concerns about poor conditions at Hyderabad Station, prompting Abbasi to promise that work will begin there immediately.

Addressing medical emergency protocols on trains, railway officials said first aid is provided onboard and passengers are referred to hospitals at major stations if needed.

Concerns were raised about the ineffectiveness of the “Rabta” mobile app. Abbasi acknowledged earlier issues but informed a new IT team has been given a deadline of July 15 to fully activate the app.
