In a statement, the Prime Minister said he was pleased to welcome Sheikha Asma to this new role and congratulated her on successfully summiting Nanga Parbat (The Killer Range or King of Mountains), Pakistan’s ninth-highest mountain and known as one of the most dangerous peaks in the world.
“Sheikha Asma’s appointment is a symbol of the strong and historic friendship between Pakistan and Qatar, Her achievements send a powerful message of courage and determination, especially to young women across the region.” said the Prime Minister.

Sheikha Asma Al Thani has earned global recognition for her extraordinary mountaineering accomplishments. She is the first Qatari woman to climb Mount Everest, K2, Lhotse, Manaslu, and Ama Dablam. She also holds the distinction of being the first Qatari to ski to the North Pole.
Beyond her climbing feats, Sheikha Asma serves as the Director of Marketing and Communications at the Qatar Olympic Committee and is an active advocate for women’s empowerment through adventure and sports.
She was also named “Woman of the Year” by Grazia magazine in Qatar and made headlines for being the first Arab to climb an 8,000-meter peak (one of the highest mountain range) without the use of supplemental oxygen.
With her appointment as brand ambassador, the government hopes to promote Pakistan’s natural beauty, adventure tourism, and mountain destinations to a global audience.
