Karachi is likely to receive moderate rainfall between July 8 and 11, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
Spokesperson of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Anjum Nazir said the weather in Karachi will remain partly cloudy and humid today [July 02], with no significant rainfall expected in the next few hours.
He added that monsoon winds are now entering southeastern parts of Pakistan, increasing the chances of rain in Sindh, especially in Karachi and nearby districts.
The Meteorological Department forecasts light rain and drizzle for Karachi during this period. While not heavy, the rainfall could still affect traffic flow and urban drainage systems.
From July 1 to 5, rainfall is expected in Tharparkar, Mithi, and surrounding areas, where seasonal monsoon activity is intensifying. These areas often see early monsoon showers compared to Karachi.
City authorities are expected to prepare for the forecasted rain spell, with drainage clearing and public advisories on safe commuting during wet conditions.
Last month, rain-related alerts were issued for Karachi due to pre-monsoon activity, but significant rainfall did not occur. The upcoming spell may mark the start of regular monsoon for the city.
