The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has introduced cashless payment facilities in six major cattle markets in Karachi to promote digital payments during Eid ul Adha 2025.
Launched on May 19, the “Go Cashless” campaign of SBP will continue until June 6, aiming to reduce reliance on cash in cattle transactions.
The initiative is part of SBP’s broader plan to expand digital financial inclusion across the country.
The campaign is being rolled out in 54 cattle markets across 22 districts of Pakistan, including Karachi, and is supported by partner banks.

According to SBP officials, buyers and merchants can now use digital payment methods to pay for animals, water, feed, and parking fees in these markets.
The cashless system is expected to improve transaction speed, convenience, and financial security.
“This step will make Eid shopping easier, safer, and more transparent,” the bank said, urging the public to take full advantage of the digital services available.
The SBP believes that digitizing cattle markets during Eid will serve as a key moment in the transition towards a cashless economy, benefiting both consumers and vendors.
