A surge in Snapchat outage reports was observed across the country mostly from Punjab and Sindh over the past 24 hours, with users in Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Karachi especially affected, according to data from Downdetector.
Based on the Downdetector chart, problem reports spiked beyond normal levels, indicating a significant disruption. Users cited issues with the app (56%), followed by sharing (26%) and uploading (18%).
A heat map showed widespread trouble spots, suggesting that the outage wasn’t isolated. Downdetector clarified that it only flags an incident when problem reports surpass average daily volumes for the specific time period, which was the case here.
While Snapchat has not issued an official statement yet, tech analysts speculate the issue may be linked to server-side disruptions or a possible update glitch.
Many users across the country have reported that the application functions properly when accessed through a Virtual Private Network (VPN), but fails to work when the VPN is turned off.
