Pakistan convenes security meet over India’s action

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has summoned a National Security Committee (NSC) meeting for Thursday morning, April 24, 2025, to formulate Pakistan’s official response to India’s aggressive diplomatic actions.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the call on platform X, stating the meeting will shape Pakistan’s official response amid rising regional tensions.

Earlier in the day, India’s foreign secretary, in a televised address, announced a series of strict measures following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in Kashmir that killed 26 people, including an Indian Navy officer.

New Delhi has revoked all SAARC visa exemptions for Pakistani nationals, giving a 48-hour deadline for their exit. The Attari-Wagah border crossing has been sealed, and Pakistani military advisers in India have been declared persona non grata.

India also announced that withdraw its defence advisers from Islamabad.

The most significant decision is the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, a 64-year-old agreement crucial to water sharing between both nations.
