Sindh govt announces new bridge project in Karachi

Sindh New Bridge project

Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has announced the construction of a bridge in Quaidabad, Karachi, with work set to begin at the end of April 2025.

Speaking to the media, Ghani announced the new project for Karachi, while reiterating that no new canals could be built from the Indus River without Sindh’s approval.

He stressed the importance of equal water distribution and adherence to the constitution. He pointed out that a shrinking political party is trying to rally public support.

Addressing water shortages in Sindh and Punjab, he assured that Karachi still has access to drinking water.

Ghani dismissed criticism of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), saying they had raised concerns about canal construction long before others.

He revealed that multiple letters had been written to convene a Council of Common Interests (CCI) meeting on the matter.

He urged the opposition to work for public welfare instead of engaging in political point-scoring.

He noted that while some Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leaders are willing to cooperate to resolve this issue, meanwhile, others elements are creating conflict.

Ghani concluded by stating that the government is using all available platforms to resolve these issues through discussion.
